In his latest video address, Dr. Egon Cholakian analyzes the 8.8-magnitude earthquake that struck the Kamchatka region on July 30, 2025. He emphasizes that this event was not just an isolated "release of tectonic stress" but a signal marking the onset of a new and acute geodynamic phase linked to the awakening of the Siberian mantle plume. Dr. Cholakian explains that the earthquake is the result of the so-called edge effect, a manifestation of the immense pressure the Siberian plume exerts on the Eurasian lithospheric plate, and provides a detailed analysis of the geophysical mechanisms behind this process.

Dr. Cholakian also highlights a forecast made by his colleague, Mr. Danilov, who in early June 2025 predicted a powerful earthquake in early August north of the Japanese archipelago.
