In July 2025, Children’s Health Defense (CHD), a nonprofit founded by Robert F. Kennedy Jr., filed a lawsuit against him in his role as U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary, alleging he failed to establish a task force to promote safer childhood vaccines, as mandated by the National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act of 1986. The lawsuit, funded by CHD and led by attorney Ray Flores, claims Kennedy neglected a legal obligation to report on vaccine safety improvements, a requirement unmet by any HHS secretary since the law’s passage.
