1.There's no way there could be a coup in China, especially not a military one. In any country, a leader who can effectively tackle widespread corruption clearly holds significant power and has the absolute capability to challenge entrenched interest groups.

2.Thanks to KJ for sharing, it was my first time learning about the former Chongqing mayor's arrest being linked to MI6.

3.Right here on Jamarl's channel, I've seen comments from Americans criticizing China for trading with Israel, yet they don't criticize the US. I believe China cutting off rare earth supplies to the US military industry is, in a way, weakening American support for Israel, and thus actively helping to alleviate the tragedy in Gaza. Such a fascinating, thought-provoking conversation. I'd like to elaborate on a few points.
1) Your guest, historian Jeff Rich made reference to how people in different countries only get a perspective of the world from their country's media (I'm paraphrasing), but that is changing somewhat due to the internet.

This is something I've been thinking about lately too. I'm an American and I can't talk about politics with most people here because of this. On reflection, I realized that I'm in the minority who get their news and perspective/analysis of world events from the internet, motly all of it from foreigners. Specifically: a Norwegian, a Swiss, a Greek, a Russian-American, two Iranians, a Pole, a Lebanese/Palestinian and 3-4 retired US military and intel experts. I'm sure you can guess who they are. I only watch the national TV news here to see if the official narrative has changed, of if President Blunderhead has done/said something really stupid that day. I agree with your guest, as those of us globally who get our news from sources other than our national corporate medias, will help bring us to a more unified perspective and political action.

2) Regarding the new type of warfare we're seeing, where nuclear powers militarily attack non-nuclear and nuclear States to destroy their weaponry, or in the case of Iran; possible future weaponry seems to be the military equivalent of pre-crime, like in that Tom Cruise movie (Minority Report?) where he went after criminals BEFORE they committed their crimes. But I see this in a positive light, under certain conditions. This phenomenon does need a new name though, to distinguish it clearly from war as we've known it till now. Maybe "Deterrent Intervention" or "De-Militarization Operation". This new type of military intervention is only possible now because we now have advanced weapon systems with highly accurate targeting capability. These operations would involve no destruction of infrastructure, no mass civilian or troop casualties, no capture of territories, no demonizing of the "enemy" through hate-mongering pre-war propaganda. As long as the MICs of the world still exist, it's likely they would support such actions at least tacitly, because they would greatly increase their revenue streams through re-supply, like the burn pits in the US/Iraq war that destroyed brand new trucks and other military hardware (I forget the stated purpose for why they did it).

Maybe this type of military Deterrent Intervention could only be normalized after the majority of humankind are not dependent on nation-state controlled corporate medias used to justify their planned wars. Also the leader of the country or countries initiating the action would have to be of a highly ethical nature. No history of expansionism, no prior war-mongering. Can't we demand everywhere that all candidates take psychological tests to weed out the psychopaths and pathological liars with little or no empathy? Personally, I'd trust President Putin to wage a Deterrent Intervention. His background and actions prove he is a man of integrity. But we can't any longer allow promoters and campaign managers to create images of candidates that will appeal to their base like consumer items are marketed and promoted to appeal to the public. Why can't we demand testing? Accepted standardized instruments like IQ and personality assessments that can reveal the degree of sociopathy? Or symptoms of Alzheimer's?

Especially after hearing your guest say China is developing an extensive nuclear arsenal, maybe we need to seriously consider some new type of pre-war intervention/disarmament now that we have weapons capable of the surgical precision necessary to carry such actions out. Powerful, but non-nuclear weapons like Russia's oreshnik missile system.

3) Jeff mentioned an area of northern Australia which has a large US military complex built on it and how it was conceived of by someone as not even a part of Australia anymore. This criticism can apply to other huge US military bases as well ... on the island of Okinawa in Japan, the sprawling US/NATO base in Germany, etc... The largest "U.S.' military base in the world is now being built in Lebanon. But it's not even just another sprawling obnoxious military base on foreign soil, but something worse. It has no real connection to any one nation state. It will be the joint headquarters of the cia, mi6 and mossad in West Asia - owned and operated by this criminal trans-national triad of evil. It shows to what extent the archaic Westphalian nation-state model is becoming increasingly archaic. Barbara Ehrenreich's book, Blood Rites, describes movingly the problems with the Nation-State model.

At some point, we have to conclude that like fiat currency, the "nation state" is nothing but a consensually agreed upon conceptual framework. It has no intrinsic reality of its own. It's another Mary Poppins like collective delusion. Poppins told the children in her care that they could fly "They just had to believe enough." Fiat currency is only pieces of paper with no intrinsic value - but because we collectively BELIEVE it has value - it magically does! Nation-states as well, don't exist outside of our collective belief that they do. They are the way our species presently marks the territorial boundaries of our human sub-groups, no different in kind from the pee or scat scents wolf packs in the wild use to mark THEIR sub-group's territory.

Why are these nation-state territorial markers so powerful that rivers of human blood have been shed over millennia to contain them or change them? For the same reason there's a TV show over here titled Fear thy Neighbor. In each episode, neighbors start out friendly toward each other until one of them habitually infringes beyond their property line and onto their neighbor's property. Such behavior often leads to blind rage and sometimes murder. Most people who own houses do feel a building simmering resentment and ruminate over it when the boundaries of their property (territory) are habitually violated by a thoughtless next door neighbor through parking encroachment, errant garbage cans, construction debris tossed onto their neighbor's property, etc...

A strong reaction to violations of our territorial markers is inborn in us precisely because it IS an instinct, the instinct of territoriality. We are taught to equate instincts with animals and pride ourselves on having evolved beyond any compelling instinctual base. In humans "dispassionate reason" rules... Or so we like to believe. The sociologist Pierre van der Burge wrote a wonderful book, titled Sociobiology, which goes into the human instinctual base. Here is my list: Territoriality, Status hierarchies, the alpha/pack model of power/leadership and sub-group antagonisms. Can we ever free ourselves from these archaic instincts? Yes. Through two other attributes of ours - reason and self-reflection. The beauty of evolution is that we were endowed with the specific abilities we need to create the self-regulating feedback loop within us that can trigger the next stage of our evolution.

Some are calling that next stage planetization. (the polar opposite of globalization).

We've got lots of problems in the West - one is we're being dumbed down to the point of mass stupidity. Via the effects of TV, corporate media etc. that beyond disinformation actually condition our brains. I'll have a look at the title you mention - Sociobiology; sounds interesting. And an area we should be discussing more. And not to take away anything away from the Norwegian, Swiss etc. people I also watch on You Tube - something in my view is missing; the usual geopolitical, historical, economic etc. framing of narratives is almost a red herring. Like the drunk looking for his dropped car keys under the street light. Which essentially is what the 'West’ is doing. We actually don't have the equipment to understand what is happening, what the real problems are so can't even start to solve them. Part of the puzzle is about territory or it's modern version - property and individual property rights. I am because I own. (Your squabbling neighbours). This is the basis of capitalism of course and which is why we've got so many narcissists and psychopaths running around. Who on top of it know they're God's chosen ones. I could go on and on! To conclude - the title which got me in on this talk with Jeff Rich is 'The Collective West is Collapsing'. Jeff and Pascal didn't really explore this but there were a couple of glimmers. First - is the West collapsing? Sure looks like it. Two - in what ways is it collapsing. How about morally, culturally, economically, militarily. Three - why is it collapsing? Many variables and details but simply put - rotten foundations. Sounds a bit harsh but let's not forget that Greece, Rome, the British and American Empires were built on slavery. I'm English/Scottish!
