Driver killed, passenger hurt after crashing into moose near Denali National Park

A 24-year-old Bulgarian man was killed and a woman from North Macedonia injured after their vehicle struck a moose near the entrance to Alaska’s Denali National Park early Friday morning.

The crash occurred around 1 a.m. on the Parks Highway near Mile 235.

The man died at the scene, and the woman was hospitalized in Fairbanks.

The National Park Service is investigating and coordinating with the Bulgarian Embassy, CBS News has reported.

Officials warned of the dangers of wildlife on Alaska’s roads, especially at night.
