Affliction Lyric Video

Hey Fam, Friends, and Fans.

This is Lloyd Bickford, aka Proverb Lexis. Welcome to the lyric video for "Affliction."

I've always had an active and creative imagination, often watching and seeing the world in abstract ways. Though the thoughts and issues I was handling may have not been nearly so abstract, sometimes that's where my mind takes me.

The beginning of "The Uphill" album discusses real issues I struggled with as demons that were always seeking my ruin. As the Scriptures say:

Exodus 34:7 (NLT)
"I lavish unfailing love to a thousand generations. I forgive iniquity, rebellion, and sin. But I do not excuse the guilty. I lay the sins of the parents upon their children and grandchildren; the entire family is affected— even children in the third and fourth generations."

To me Scripture is very much a combination of literal, metaphorical, and spiritual messages much the same way we, as people, are comprised of mental, physical, and spiritual essences. This is how I openly understand the things written therein, and God has proven to me that He is very real as are His Words.

"Affliction" was written in direct regard to the demons and sins I have long dealt with, and beyond that, even to the days where they were looking for a way in. It is no coincidence that I struggled with the same sins as my father, just in different ways. Though he wasn't around, I had a very real example of who I didn't want to become... as well as the consequences of a life letting my sins run unbridled.

I have long understood that Sin and Desire is something to gain mastery over.

A Voice once said to me:
"Sin is to be brought low and be made humble."

This was very much a warning, and not a suggestion...
