Making a Moral Panic - Ford Excursion

How do! :D

Another personal favourite of mine, the Ford Excursion of 2000 demonstrated that the appetite for gigantic American cars and SUVs was still alive and well after years of malaise and contraction in the wider industry following the upheaval of the 1970s and 80s, with the Excursion itself being a strong seller upon its release, striking a chord with commercial and family buyers alike.

Sadly, the very aspects that made the Excursion so endearing also contributed to its downfall, with the car's exceptional size, woeful fuel economy and potential for crash safety violations invoking the ire of environmentalists, analysts and policymakers alike, though in spite of this mighty truck having ended production after only six years, its enduring legacy ensures continued interest in this back-to-basics SUV, even in the face of more modern and technologically complex rivals.
