In 1587 there was no ice in the ring, they were warm lands

The Urbano Monte map of 1587 shows that what is officially called Antarctica has no ice anywhere.

Quite the opposite; it had warm conditions suitable for animals like camels and alligators.

It was also united with South America. Something happened later that froze a huge landmass.
