UP Shocker: 21-Yr-Old Jailed for 7 Months After Being Caught With Married Woman

In a bizarre and controversial case from Uttar Pradesh, a 21-year-old man spent seven months in jail after a rape case was filed against him — despite being caught red-handed in a consensual sexual encounter with a 31-year-old married woman.

According to reports, the woman invited her young lover, who is also her husband’s cousin, to her home at night, while her husband and mother-in-law slept in another room. The duo was caught in the act, following which the husband beat up his cousin.

The woman later reconciled with her husband, and then filed a rape case against the youth. Based solely on her statement, the man was arrested and remained behind bars for seven months before the case began to unravel.

The incident has reignited the debate over misuse of rape laws and the lack of gender neutrality in India’s legal framework for sexual offences.
