On April 30, 2024, an incident at Leo Hayes High School involving Israeli immigrant Shaked Tsurkan and a girl in a pink hoodie quickly escalated into a media frenzy. The fight was reported as an anti-Semitic hate crime by Shaked, who claimed that she was attacked by the hijabi girl—a Shia of Middle Eastern origin—due to her race and religion, even though she is Ukrainian. In reality, however, many witnesses attested that Shaked started the fight by pulling off the other’s girl’s hijab and pushing her on the asphalt.

The handling of this case provides significant insight into how various institutions, such as school administrations, courts, media outlets, politicians, lobby groups and law enforcement agencies operate behind the scenes. Despite having dozens of witnesses and CCTV footage available, these institutions chose to ignore or manipulate the evidence—for instance, by suppressing or spoliating the CCTV footage—in order to falsely prosecute the hijabi girl and spread hate propaganda.

This case highlights how authorities can be racist, bigoted liars who will go to great lengths to achieve their goals. They are willing to destroy, manipulate, or suppress evidence when it suits them politically. In this instance, the parties used a high school tussle as an excuse to invoke political lobbies masquerading as "religious charities" like B'nai Brith and the National Council of Canadian Muslims (NCCM), who blindly advocated for their respective parties at donors’ expense.

Interestingly, the cause of the fight—jealousy over a boyfriend—not only goes against Jewish and Islamic religious norms but was always clear to everyone involved. Shaked's parents, who, while blaming Arabs, pretended not to be politicized, racist or Islamophobic, supported Netanyahu and the Kach party, which is listed as a terrorist entity under the Criminal Code. However, the courts, police, politicians, media outlets, B'nai Brith and NCCM chose to cover this up.

Additionally, it was discovered that the stepfather of the girl who lent her pink hoodie to the hijabi and started the fight with Shaked is a friend of Rabbi Yosef Goldman, who contacted B’nai Brith to smear the Muslim community; see “A letter from Muslim and Jewish leaders in Fredericton” (4 Dec 2023) Christ Church Cathedral. In a letter he co-authored with Goldman, he falsely claimed to be a leader of the Muslim community. In fact, respectable members of the Muslim community attested that he is a heretic who rejected Hadith and claimed the Qur’an prescribes only three daily prayers like orthodox Judaism.

The NCCM also operates under the Law Society, which is a Zionist organization. NCCM lawyers pay hefty annual fees to the Law Society, which has access to all their information and can threaten litigation or its lawyers’ careers and reputations if they go against its wishes. As a result, the NCCM effectively functions as an informant and a controlled-opposition agent for Zionist interests while creating and promoting its own “Canadian” liberal and Zionist-friendly version of “Islam”. Unlike B’nai Brith, it does not support or obey and is not answerable to any Islamic legal or state authority.

All in all, this case serves as a cautionary tale about how authorities can manipulate situations and misuse religious charities to pursue their own political agendas. It also highlights that blind justice—without the facts—is unjust, and the need for greater transparency and accountability within these institutions to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.
