Mirror Not Malice

When Lies Echo: Danny West’s Desperate Justification Unravels.

It appears Danny West is now grasping at straws to justify his public defamation — namely, calling me, Matthew Taylor, a “convicted paedophile” with no legal basis whatsoever.

But instead of providing evidence — because there is none — Danny West has reached back years into the archive, dredging up a completely out-of-context incident involving Den Tarragon. His argument? That because I once referred to Tarragon as a convicted paedophile, it’s somehow acceptable for him to label me the same.

Let’s break this down.

What Actually Happened

Den Tarragon — years ago — published the statement:

“This is Matt Taylor and he is a convicted paedophile - Fact. Sue me Matt Taylor if it isn’t true.”

Let that sink in.

He said that about me, publicly, maliciously, and falsely. So what did I do? I mirrored it straight back to him. Word for word.

That’s not a genuine accusation. That’s not defamation. That’s mirroring — a form of rhetorical pushback used to expose the absurdity and venom in the original attack.

I was holding up a mirror to Tarragon’s lie. Not inventing one. Not spreading one. Not starting a smear campaign. Just reflecting his own bile right back at him.

And now, years later, Danny West — under fire for calling me a convicted paedophile with no legal basis — is using that mirrored response as his defence.

Why This Argument Doesn’t Hold Water

Let’s get one thing absolutely clear: There is no conviction.

Calling someone a convicted paedophile is one of the most serious accusations you can make against another person. It puts lives in danger — especially in working-class communities like mine in Moulsecoomb, Brighton.

It’s not something you do lightly. And it’s certainly not something you justify by saying, “Well, years ago he said it too.”

Especially when the context shows that it wasn’t a serious claim — it was a rhetorical retort to being slandered in the first place.

Danny West knows this. But he’s hoping his audience doesn’t. He’s hoping they’ll see a headline or a quote and not look deeper. That they won’t question the motive. That they’ll just parrot what they hear.

The Pattern Continues.

This is part of a larger pattern with West — a refusal to take responsibility, paired with a desperate effort to justify his words no matter how ridiculous it gets.

When challenged, he claims he was “cloned.”

When confronted with his own words, he blames the victim.

And now, caught red-handed, he’s rewriting history to shift blame once again.

Why It Matters

Because lies are dangerous — especially lies involving child abuse. They stick. They spread. And when those lies are told deliberately, and weaponised as a form of online warfare, they become criminals.

Danny West isn’t telling the truth. He’s not even telling a half-truth. He’s telling a manipulated distortion, and hoping you won’t notice.

But I’ve noticed. Others have too. And now, the truth is on record.
