Former President Donald Trump has threatened a federal takeover of Washington, D.C., following an attempted carjacking involving Edward Coristine, a Department of Government Efficiency staffer, and his partner.

Two 15-year-olds were arrested in the attack, and police say more suspects are being sought.

Trump cited rising crime and called for tougher penalties for minors, despite data showing violent crime in D.C. is down 26% from last year.

Elon Musk and U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro echoed Trump’s concerns, with Pirro vowing a crackdown on crime, NBC News has reported.

Trump has previously suggested federal control of D.C. to address public safety.
