Sega Rally Revo PC (2007)

Sega Rally Revo is a more modern take on Sega's classic rally racers and the fourth game in the Sega Rally series. Sega Rally Revo was available on several platforms, including PC, XBox 360, and PlayStations 3 and Portable and was developed alongside Sega Rally 3 which saw release in arcades. Sporting modern features including deformable terrain and impressive dirt and mud visuals, Sega Rally Revo is largely faithful to its predecessors Sega Rally and Sega Rally 2 in both driving style and art direction.

For fast times in Revo, the same simplistic formula that applies to Sega Rally also applies here: avoid colliding with other cars and walls and avoid running into water. By simplifying the driving experience, Sega Rally games have always been fun to jump into and drive sideways in for novices and experts alike.

New to Revo is deformable terrain: as cars drive over the track, they will kick up dirt, mud, and snow and leave deep ruts behind. Beyond adding visual realism, the ruts can also be a hazard as running across one at a sharp enough angle can pop the car up into the air, especially in the Alpine tracks with deeper snow. Either run wider lines to avoid these bumps, or, if many cars have already passed through the same spot and widened the ruts up, try to drive inside them to avoid losing control. Dirt usually has shallower ruts than mud, while snow has deeper ruts than mud. Be sure to also watch for water inside of mud pits as any ruts that run through these puddles will fill with water, making them even riskier to hit by accident.

Interestingly, driving through mud will splatter and cake it onto the car, driving through dirt will stick to and discolor mud already on the car, and driving through water will wash both mud and dirt off.
