Verne Gagne's AWA declined due to his traditional wrestling style and his mishandling of Hulk Hogan, who left for WWF. The "Invasion" storyline of WCW/ECW was a disappointment due to the absence of top stars and poor booking. The nWo's WWE run failed because of diluted mystique and key injuries. Finally, the "Heroes of Wrestling" event became an infamous debacle due to shoddy production and unprofessional, inebriated performers.
