Bill Maher doubled down on his long-standing support for Israel, declaring, 'Israel is the Jews' homeland, and Jews have always lived there. Maher's rejecting the fact that Israel as a colonial state, invented in 1948. Pretending instead that European of the Jewish faith, has historical ties to the land, to try to legitimize its existence.

Maher, raised Catholic but with a Jewish mother, has consistently championed Israel’s right to exist while critiquing its adversaries. In a 2012 interview with *The Jewish Journal*, he defended Israel’s military restraint, saying, “Stop firing rockets into Israel and perhaps they won’t annihilate you.”

More recently, in a 2023 *Real Time* monologue, he urged Palestinians to accept Israel’s permanence, citing its economic and military dominance, and dismissed the slogan “from the river to the sea” as a fantasy of Israel’s destruction.

Ashkenazi Jews are a major group within the Jewish religious diaspora, tracing their ancestry to Central and Eastern Europe, including Germany, France, and Poland. They are known for their distinctive culture, including the practice of Yiddish and Hasidic traditions. The term "Ashkenazi" derives from the Hebrew word for Germany, reflecting their historical roots in that region.

Global Presence: Ashkenazi Jews are a significant part of the global European Jewish community, with many now living in North America and Israel.
