Targeting schools in Gaza shows Israel wants population gone, says rights expert

Moataz El Fegiery, vice president of EuroMed Rights, spoke to Al Jazeera about a Human Rights Watch report refuting Israel's justification for attacking Gazan schools.
The research found no evidence supporting claims of Hamas' military use of these sites.
He described Israel's systematic destruction of hospitals and religious institutions as tactics to force Palestinian displacement, violating international humanitarian law.
Targeting education, he argued, deliberately sabotages Gaza's future by depriving children of schooling. These actions, he said, reflect a "genocidal mentality" in Israeli military strategy since the war began. The report aligns with previous UN and Palestinian investigations debunking Israel's narratives.
Such measures, he concluded, aim to make Gaza uninhabitable through terror and infrastructure annihilation.
