03 | EXPLANATION OF KITAB AT-TAWHID FROM SAHIH AL-BUKHARI | Shaykh Ahmad Musa Jibril (حفظه الله)

In this powerful third session of our series on Kitāb At-Tawḥīd from Ṣaḥīḥ Al-Bukhārī, we delve into the origins and phases of the deviant sect known as Al-Jahmiyyah. The Shaykh traces the path of this misguided ideology from its founder, Al-Jaʿd ibn Dirham, through his student Al-Jahm ibn Ṣafwān, and into the time of Bishr al-Marrīsī during the reign of Al-Maʾmūn.

We learn how these figures denied essential attributes of Allāh ﷻ — including the fact that He spoke to Mūsā (ʿalayhi as-salām) and took Ibrāhīm (ʿalayhi as-salām) as a close friend. The Shaykh details their execution at the hands of righteous leaders who stood to defend the creed of Ahl as-Sunnah, refuting modern claims that their punishment was politically motivated.

This lesson also explores how the core beliefs of Jahmiyyah were absorbed by later sects such as the Ashʿarīs, and how these distorted ideas continue to surface today — often masked under academic or philosophical discourse. It is a warning to hold fast to the path of the Salaf, uphold the clarity of Tawḥīd, and recognize the tactics of those who obscure the pure attributes of Allāh ﷻ.
