S4T Friday Zoom Aug 8th - Climate Lockdown

On August 5, 2025, Nova Scotia's government imposed a sweeping ban on forest access, locking residents out until October 15. Citing "wildfire risks" from dry conditions, Premier Tim Houston shut down hiking, camping, fishing, and vehicle use on both Crown and private lands. Violators face fines up to $25,000.

This "climate lockdown" is just like the COVID lockdowns, a dangerous precedent for government control over land and personal freedoms. Hunters, who depend on the woods for their livelihoods, are hit hardest by these restrictions.

If we allow this now, it will be just the beginning. We must act before it's too late! The CCF is fighting back! You can support them and sign the petition HERE: https://theccf.ca/ccf-warns-premier-houston-hiking-ban-threatens-freedoms-petition-demands-repeal/.

We can also reach out to the ministers behind this policy to share your concerns. Share your own thoughts, or you can use this well articulated letter as a template, access the letter HERE: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1HLi7MM31TETCWJhQ5qRO6_w-IAVblcvxsIEkDyH0hXA/edit?usp=sharing.
