This song is about my childhood and My dear old Dad the Drill Sergeant, God rest his soul. Dad was tough as nails and the rules were followed or else. It was a different time and place as today is. In my world, I was hit with the belt more times than I can remember, but one I do you remember, the time the law brought me home to Dad and his belt. The police were more than happy to watch my father administer justice on my backside with the leather. All the lessons Dad was attempting to pound into me didn't really stick until much later in life. Now looking back I am grateful he cared so much that he was willing to sacrifice my butt to the leather god. I thank him for his service to our great nation and I thank our great nation for providing dear old dad with the grit to raise the most unruly male child ever to grace God's green earth. (A quote from my grandmother)
