Megalo Box is a gritty, futuristic sports anime set in a starkly divided society where the wealthy live as licensed citizens and the poor struggle to survive unlicensed in the outskirts. The story follows Junk Dog, an underground fighter forced to throw matches under the guidance of his coach, Gansaku Nanbu. His life changes when a near accident with Yukiko Shirato, head of a major Megalo boxing organization, leads to a challenge from her skilled bodyguard, Yuri. Determined to enter Megalonia—a prestigious tournament open only to licensed fighters—Junk Dog adopts the ring name “Joe” and begins a climb through brutal, gear-enhanced boxing matches to prove himself the best in the world.
