2008 Scion xB - First extended test drive ends in agony!

After replacing the engine on our 2008 Scion xB, I was dismayed to hear a light, but familiar knocking sound at idle and at certain RPMs while warming up the engine in the driveway. There was no way to be sure of the engine's longevity now but to take it for an extended test drive...
