While the total number of Texans living with diagnosed HIV has increased, it's important to understand the context behind this rise. While the number of people living with diagnosed HIV in Texas has increased by 38% over the past decade, this is partly due to advances in medical care allowing people to live longer with the virus. The annual number of new HIV diagnoses has remained relatively stable, and efforts are underway to reduce new infections and improve the lives of those living with HIV.
