Rock Star Churches!

When is a Church not really a part of Jesus' Church?

When the purpose and design is to put on a rock concert. When the purpose and design is to be a Rock Star Church. When the purpose and design is to draw people in and increase numbers rather than to bring people closer to Jesus. And unfortunately, that is far too common in the Modern American Church.

Join us this morning for Conversations With The Evangelist. This is Part II of our two part series on what has gone wrong with so many churches and what the Church is supposed to look like. Last week we looked at Spiritually Dead Churches and how so many are dying off because they are boring and filled with traditions that those on the outside want nothing to do with. Today, we continue by looking at those who have poured money and charisma into building something that is a monument to Man and not to God. Those who are putting on a Show rather than building the Kingdom of God.

Some this week have focused only on the music portion, but being a Rock Star Church is about more than just the music. Most also have a Pastor that has been turned into a Rock Star. People shout and dance all the way through his speaking, yet could not tell you one thing he said that would bring them closer to Christ.

Either type of Church is wrong and not of Jesus. Rather, while yes Brian Penrod we need a powerful Worship Time, we need to be what the Early Church was. Set aside our Traditions and the way things have always been done. Return to being about training each and every person to Grow in their Faith and to Live their Faith every moment of every day.
