II. Theme: "The Olive Leaf: Cosmos and Temple!"
i. What an expansive revelation
ii. From deep outreaches of outer-space, to the closeness of the human heart, we lean both the macro and micro, the expansiveness and intimacy of the doctrine of Christ
iii. A gospel for the Space Age, but also for all ages of human life.
iv. Instrumental in my conversion. Realities behind science fiction.
III. Point I: Cosmos
i. Light
1. Light of Christ fills space, governs planets, but also human behavior. Natural law and moral absolutes
2. Moses 1, Abraham 3, Fac of Abr #2, cosmic context to what we are doing. Why do we shy away from this? Gospel for the Space Age.
3. Cosmology is connected with how the atonement works.
ii. Law
1. Celestial, terrestrial, telesatial, and perdition laws
2. As we obey, get quickened by portion of spirit, and resurrect. See the atonement connection to degrees of glory. Salvation depends upon which law we obey. Need atonement to obey law--to change our natures.
3. All kingdoms have a law given
4. "And again, verily I say unto you, that which is governed by law is also preserved by law and perfected and sanctified by the same."
5. "That which breaketh a law, and abideth not by law, but seeketh to become a law unto itself, and willeth to abide in sin, and altogether abideth in sin, cannot be sanctified by law, neither by mercy, justice, nor judgment.  Therefore, they must remain filthy still."34 - 35
6. BHR "the inexorableness of law."
7. Grace is fulfillment of law, Alma 34, 41, 42.
iii. Kingdoms
1. Planets have kingdoms
2. Different planets with different orders
3. Light of Christ governs planets
4. The Savior visits each planet in its turn
5. Many kingdoms, many degrees and sub degrees
6. "And they give light to each other in their times and in their seasons, in their minutes, in their hours, in their days, in their weeks, in their months, in their years—all these are one year with God, but not with man."
7. "The earth rolls upon her wings, and the sun giveth his light by day, and the moon giveth her light by night, and the stars also give their light, as they roll upon their wings in their glory, in the midst of the power of God.
8. "Unto what shall I liken these kingdoms, that ye may understand?"
9. "Behold, all these are kingdoms, and any man who hath seen any or the least of these hath seen God moving in his majesty and power" 44 - 47
10. Born 1970, all my life watching Voyager I and II. By time in high school reached out gas giants.  Uranus and Neptune also have rings.
iv. Glory
1. Earth obeys law and "fills measure of creation"
2. Die and resurrect
3. Resurrection, redemption, "body and spirit"
IV. Point II: Second Coming
i. Reminding passages from Revelation
ii. Desolation of abomination:
1. Downwind smoke of disobedience
2. For those who did not belong to their church did indulge themselves in sorceries, and in idolatry or idleness, and in babblings, and in envyings and strife; wearing costly apparel; being lifted up in the pride of their own eyes; persecuting, lying, thieving, robbing, committing whoredoms, and murdering, and all manner of wickedness; nevertheless, the law was put in force upon all those who did transgress it, inasmuch as it was possible. Alma 1:32
3. Use of time and money in unproductive, irresponsible, dangerous things. Take money away from these things, and give to poor, and build up the Church?
V. Point III: Temple
i. Teaching: Schoolhouse aspect of Kirtland
1. Content:
a. Doctrine, theory, law
b. Temporal things
2. Intent:
a. Prepare for missionary work
b. Prepare for second coming
3. Mechanics
a. all speak, but not at once
b. Greeting:
i. "Art thou a brother or brethren?  I salute you in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, in token or remembrance of the everlasting covenant, in which covenant I receive you to fellowship, in a determination that is fixed, immovable, and unchangeable, to be your friend and brother through the grace of God in the bonds of love, to walk in all the commandments of God blameless, in thanksgiving, forever and ever.  Amen."133

VI. Christ Quotient
i. Atonement Quotient:
1. Cosmic vastness of our message: A God of the galaxies; Savior to the Stars
2. Relation of cosmology and atonement
a. The way reality functions determines how the atonement was wrought. The way the atonement was wrought depends upon how the universe works.
b. Read about this in D&C 93, and Alma 34, and 41. Nature of God and Nature of happiness
c. BHR wrote a book called TWL, and starts out with cosmology--not just astronomy, but cosmology, metaphysics. How universe works. then talks about the Atonement.
d. Thin about days of creation in scriptures and in endowment. Sets up for Atonement.
e. Three pillars of Eternity.
3. Law, quickened by the spirit
a. Not just obedience, but need this quickening that comes from obedience
b. That's law and grace
ii. Second coming Quotient
1. A thumbnail of the events of the last days
2. Missionary work contextualized with second coming (D&C 1)
3. What are you doing to prepare for Second Coming?
iii. Temple
1. Temple work, to temple worship, to temple tutoring--how being taught in temple?
2. How endowment makes a different, and covenants of initiatories and sealing?
iv. Cosmic side of Christ, but that's the point.
