Where Growth Begins

Ravi’s life was routine—office, home, dinner, sleep. His balcony was just an empty space where dust collected. One Sunday morning, while strolling through the local market, his eyes caught a small lemon sapling sitting in a corner, its leaves fresh and shining in the sunlight.

The shopkeeper noticed his gaze.
“You can plant this at home,” the shopkeeper said with a warm smile. “If you don’t know how, you can learn. Plants don’t just grow in soil—they grow in care.”

Ravi chuckled. “I’ve never grown a plant in my life.”
“Then this will be your first,” replied the shopkeeper, handing him the clay pot.

Back home, Ravi placed the pot in the corner of his balcony. He began reading articles on plant care—how much water, how much sunlight, how to protect it from pests. Every morning before work, he would greet the little sapling, sprinkle water, and adjust it to catch the morning sun.

Weeks passed. Tiny new leaves appeared. Encouraged, Ravi added a basil plant, then mint, and soon bright marigolds. His balcony transformed from a dull, empty space to a living, breathing garden.

One evening, his neighbor Mrs. Sharma stopped by.
“Ravi, your balcony is the most beautiful in the building! How did you learn all this?”
Ravi smiled. “I didn’t know anything when I started. I just began… and learned along the way.”

As he looked at his thriving plants, he realized he hadn’t just grown a garden—he had grown patience, care, and joy. The little green corner had changed his home… and his heart.
