Is the New Ruger Max-9 better than the Original?

This week we are comparing the @RugerFirearms Max-9 new version to the original. When comparing them cosmetically there are quite a few differences. The shape of the slide and serrations, the sights and even the finish. The Nitride finish on the newest version of the Max-9 is a big improvement to the Oxide finish of the original. I hope they continue the finish to the original design as well. The slide serrations, in my opinion, are better on the newest version as well. They are deeper and more grippy than the original. The only thing I like more on the original are the sights. The standard 3 dot is ok but the fiber optic night sight that is co-witness height is the way to go for sure. If you get the new one I'd suggest getting a set of the original sights. Now moving on to the optics, I am very unimpressed with the ready dot. I've tried it on other pistols and now the gun it was designed for and it does not seem to self zero like they claim. I know some of you have them and have no issues but with my experience they fall short. Now the Cat G Pro from Cylee is turning out to be one of my favorite optics. The clear larger glass and sharp green dot make for an easy time shooting. I now want to try out some other Cylee optics to see if they prove to be as good. Now with that all being said, if you already have a Max-9 there is no reason to get the new one unless you want a safety or a secondary pistol. If you do not have one, this one may be replacing my shield plus as my daily carry. My biggest concern though is the firing pin issue they had with the older one, so more rounds are needed before the change. I will keep you updated along the way!
