Kim Strassel: It’s ‘Head Scratching’ That Dems Launched a Redistricting War, When They’ve Done This in States Like NY and Calif.

GIGOT: “That self reflection either. Kim, do you think the Democrats can pick up? I mean Republicans can pick up five estates in Texas. It was just look at the raw politics of this. Could it not?”

STRASSEL: “I don’t think so. That is why I find it from a complete structural outcome perspective, I find this a bit head scratching they have decided to launch this war. I can get that they are angry about what happened in Texas. Especially the mid- district part of it. But here is a reality. They’ve already done this themselves in Illinois, Massachusetts, New York, California, New Jersey they have redistrict the dickens out of the states. And that is their problem now is that even if they go through a lot of hoop jumping to get to it redistricting process they are not going to have a lot of running room. But what they have done is laid out the starting gun for Republicans to go to a lot of other states they were not necessarily going to go to Florida, Indiana, Missouri and they do have a little bit more ability to gerrymander harder in the states. I think if you end up at the end of this and just do the math Republicans could end up with more than five states in Texas.”
