While most people are familiar with the existence of the Jewish Temple in Jerusalem, that was destroyed by the Romans in 70 Ad. Most people are not aware that for about 100 years there were actually two Jewish Temples functioning at the same time.

After the Babylonians destroyed the first Jewish Temple in 586 BC, it was rebuilt by Ezra and Nehemiah about 70 years later. But while that was all happening, a second Jewish Temple had already been built on Elephantine Island in Egypt.
