Upgrading an Old Watchmaker's Lathe

In this video I show the process of developing my two vintage watchmaking lathes into working machines over the course of a year or so. In theory lathes are so simple that they can be used with very little preparation, but to do most of the things you'll want to do some basic accessories and effort are required: from mounting to accessorizing to providing power to the lathe and a milling attachment. It was a pleasure for me to explore all of these preparations while also reflecting on the absolutely essential role that lathes have played in the history of watchmaking and mechanical engineering in general.
