08.10.25 "Let No Thought of Failure Take Residence in Your Mind"

A Course In Miracles starts with one very powerful line. "You will see miracles through your hands through me." (CE.Tx.1) Are you seeing miracles happening through your life, through your works, through you body? The answer to that question should always be a sincere, "Yes."

We have to come from a foundation of success and confidence. ACIM establishes this foundation in various teachings. This one comes to mind, "Whenever a teacher of God has tried to be a channel for healing, he has succeeded." (Mn.7.2) Have we sincerely tried our best? Did we offer our efforts up to the Holy Spirit to purify? Did we remember that Jesus is here doing the healing with us? With support like this, how could the idea of failure take residence in our holy minds? We may be new at this job of healing but Jesus has been at it for 2,000 years. Lots of successful experience to draw from here.

The previous quotation continues talking about our healing effort. "That was already maximal, because the Holy Spirit so accepted it and so used it." (Mn.7.2) We can rest in the knowledge that it is the Holy Spirit and Jesus who do the "heavy lifting" here? Our job is merely to turn in the right direction. Everything about my healing ministry is designed to turn people's minds and lives in the right direction. We only have to be aligned with Divine Thought for an instant for the healing to occur. "This does not mean the conflict must be gone forever from your mind. ... But it does mean, if only for an instant, you love without attack. An instant is sufficient." (Tx.27.45) We only have to feel our oneness with our brother or sister for a moment for salvation to come to both of us. "It is possible for two people to lose sight of separate interests, if only for a moment. That moment will be enough. Salvation has come." (Mn.7.2)

I instruct the CMC Healing Team that the only thing we need to do when reading the Prayer/Healing List is to join with the people and situations on the list, and then healing will be accomplished. There is nothing else required. "The simple presence of a teacher of God is a reminder. His thoughts ask for the right to question what the patient has accepted is true." (Mn.5.9) When we are tempted to doubt that our healing effort was effective, ACIM tells us we must use reason – sane thinking which flows from Spirit – to tell ourselves that the healing is guaranteed. "He must use his reason to tell himself that he has given the problem to One Who cannot fail, and recognize that his own uncertainty is not love but fear and therefore hate." (Mn.7.2)

To give into doubt is to give into fear, and as the passage just told us, this would actually be our hating the patient, who may very well be ourselves. When put like this, our task to stay certain about the success of our healing effort is clear. The opening line of ACIM is actually a miracle guarantee given to us as we begin. "You will see miracles through your hands through me." (CE.Tx.1) It didn't say we "might" see miracles. It said we "will." We must let no thought of failure take residence in our minds.
