Aurora, CO - The Aurora Police Department on Monday released body camera video of an officer shooting a man, who later died, during a response to a family disturbance.

The shooting happened June 14 in the 15800 block of East Arkansas Drive. Police said they learned that a husband and wife had been arguing. The couple separated, and the husband – identified as Todd Patrick Smith – went to the garage.

The body camera video shows two officers approach the man in the garage. One of the officers walks around the house to the front door while the other speaks with the man for a couple of minutes.

"I'm done," the man then says in the video. He walks to a tool box and picks up a gun, which he holds in one outstretched, open hand.

The officer draws his weapon and tells the man five times to drop the gun.

The man swings the gun around in the direction of the officer, which is when the officer shoots twice, hitting the man in the chest.

The man falls to the ground. The officer tells him several times to drop the gun before the man drops it and the officers render medical aid, the body camera video shows.
