I Built the Most OverKill Garage for my Robot LawnMower

I built a fully automated garage for my Segway Navimow H105E robotic lawn mower – complete with smart electric gate control, voice commands, and many more features. More than anyone probably needs. But hey, Johan (that’s the mower) deserves the best.

In this video, you’ll see the entire building process – from digging up the lawn and pouring a reinforced concrete slab with a foundation, to designing and 3D printing a whole bunch of custom parts, adding LED lighting, and much more.

The garage itself is built with pressure-treated wood panels, a solid metal roof, and a plexiglass window – because of course Johan also needs daylight.

The control system is based on an Arduino and an ultrasonic sensor, combined with an H-bridge. The system continuously tracks the mower’s position during entry and exit. The gate opens automatically when Johan leaves or returns (whether on schedule, via voice command, rain detection, or manual stop – both from the machine itself or the apps) and stays open until he’s safely docked. Everything can also be controlled manually from a phone.

It’s fully integrated with Google Home, complete with voice commands and even custom voice responses telling me what Johan is up to. I also installed a wireless Reolink IP camera so I can monitor and control everything remotely – right from the couch.

The custom parts were printed with a Flashforge Adventurer ADX5 – a surprisingly capable printer for its price. This isn’t a sponsored video, but full disclosure: Flashforge sent me the printer for free to get my honest feedback. And honestly? For a budget machine, it performs far better than expected. In my opinion, it’s almost as good as my Bambu X1 Carbon, which costs four times as much!
