A 2010 advertisement for the Australian web hosting and domain company Crazy Domains, featuring Pamela Anderson, depicted her as a business executive alongside a female colleague, referred to as "Vanessa" or "Nicola".
The ad showed Anderson and her colleague in boardroom settings wearing suits with shirts open to their navels.
The central narrative involved a male colleague fantasizing about the two women, culminating in a dream sequence where they are shown in bikinis covered in cream.
The commercial was criticized for its overt sexualization, with the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) in the UK ruling it was "sexist and degrading to women" because it portrayed the female colleagues as sexual objects to be lusted after.
The ad was banned in both the UK and Australia, with the Australian Advertising Standards Board finding the bikini sequence to be sexist, exploitative, and irrelevant to the product.
Despite the controversy, Crazy Domains defended the ad as a "fanciful and pure fantasy" in a style similar to other major brand campaigns like Coke and Lynx.
The company's managing director, Gavin Collins, stated the campaign aimed to create a "wow factor" and was a strategic move to elevate corporate advertising.
The ad, which aired nationally from December 6, 2009, became highly viral and significantly boosted the company's brand recognition worldwide.
