Sartre classifies three modes of being: 'Being in itself', 'Being for itself, and 'Being for another.' Whereas Heidegger is more concerned with Dassein or 'Being in the world.' And Kant is concerned with 'being in itself,' which Schopenhauer calls the Will. All of this is speculative metaphysics and a philosophical study of the nature of being--ontology. It speaks to the root of spirituality and human anthropology.
