Here’s why I don’t wear airpods ever. i think they’re quietly one of the most dangerous consumer devices. while they may not cause acute harm, the big issue is how chronically people use them and their proximity to the brain.

AirPods run on the same frequency as a microwave— 2.4 gHz. It’s very low power, not enough to heat something up, but the danger is that some people are using it for 6+ hours a day.

A 2019 review (PMID: 31551164) found that most studies on RF radiation can cause oxidative stress even at non-heating levels. This kind of stress is a gateway to inflammation, aging, and neurological issues.

Researchers think it works through voltage-gated calcium channels, tiny gates in your cells that freak out when hit with pulsed EMFs. This can mess with your neurotransmitters and stir up oxidative chaos.

There’s also evidence RF may open up the blood–brain barrier (PMID: 12948762), letting stuff into your brain that doesn’t belong there.
