Russian forces have made rapid advances on multiple fronts, especially in the Dobropillia, Kostiantynivka, and Novopavlivka sectors, capturing several settlements and moving several kilometers in a single night. The Pokrovsk direction is at severe risk, with warnings of possible collapse leading to loss of the rest of Donetsk region. Additional Ukrainian forces are being redeployed to stabilize the situation. Zelensky warned of a major Russian offensive after mid-August in three key directions and emphasized that no decisions about Ukraine can be made without Ukraine. In parallel, a planned Trump–Putin meeting in Alaska has sparked controversy: U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham called Trump the best negotiator with Putin, while a U.S. counterintelligence officer labeled the meeting a diplomatic victory for Putin unless it ends with his arrest.
