Easy Red 2 1947 - Operation Unthinkable, Stalingrad (Allies)

Unthinkable would face even longer odds than Barbarossa.
Soviets were on their last manpower reserves and most infantry units seriously understrength due to horrifying deaths and losses. but they still had a lot more men in the field to go through. more territory to fight thru. Note that industrial base of USSR in 1945 was already in Ural and Siberia. Nuclear weapons would have been at most several, not the 1950s buildup.

Initially the Soviets push the western allies back to the Rhine Line. The allied counter punch is massive with crazy air assets and the Soviets are gradually pushed back with massive losses on both sides. Its important to remember how far the Soviets had come at the tactical level by 1945. However the spring 1946 offensive from the allies would be similar to the success of the Soviets summer 1944 campaign with the west pushing right into Poland.

The United States wanted no part of the Soviet Union in 1945. The air power, artillery power and sheer manpower of the Soviets at the end was the equal of the Allies which is why Ike wisely stopped at the Elbe. Would the public even support it though?

A larger issue might be the near-famine the Soviet Union faced at the end of the war. It was food aid and the ability to demobilize men to work the fields that limited the damage, but in a Unthinkable scenario you might see a famine. We all know how the USSR was overstretched by 1945 and it took until 1948-50 to fully recover.

This level depicts a hypothetical push up to the Volga river and Stalingrad with both the Allies, remaining german units and Soviet land army units on their very last reserves with the Soviet red force and combined Allied air force having destroyed each other mostly.
