Filter Box Cleaning

I've gone the route of emptying the ponds of sludge, the smell involved having Rocks and pebbles in the pond. I'd rather not, and have chosen to clean the Filter Box on a Weekly or Monthly basis with NO ROCKS in the pond. I have two drains that empty onto a Giant Elephant Ear with a Leach line laid into the ground to drain off the water which works quite well. Also, (see other videos) I have incorporated using a Pool Vacuum to vacuum up any excess debris in the actual pond area. I imagine this could be a bit harder than most, but considering the yearly emptying of the pond, and the smell, I have chosen this approach. Keeping the ponds well maintained, keeps the ammonia build-up down. I do keep an eye on my PH levels and they seem to run on average of 8.2 or even less. Keeping a well maintained pond even contributes to healthy fish and disease ridden pond. I imagine this will be a lot less work during the Winter season as well. I run only small pumps which only consumes 100 watts or 120 watts depending on which pond. They are both hooked up to a rather small efficient Solar Power Station(s) (ECOFLOW Delta 2 Max) and seems to be running off of Solar Energy... with an occasional recharge of the main electric line during cloudy days. I just can't afford the expense of high electric bills and I'm too old to get in and do the work of draining the ponds.
