Russia-U.S. Alaska Summit and A Policy for Lasting Peace
Tomorrow, U.S. President Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin will meet in Anchorage, Alaska, for an historic summit, which has the potential to change the world for generations to come, even despite British intelligence’s tricks to disrupt it. This week, The LaRouche Organization has mobilized to shift the dynamic of that summit by proposing that the two nations undertake a major infrastructure project of benefit to both nations. The Bering Strait Tunnel Project, advocated for decades by Lyndon LaRouche and his wife, Helga Zepp-LaRouche, would connect the U.S. and Russia, and extend even further, connecting the Americas with Eurasia. This would ultimately result in the Eurasian Land-Bridge, a series of development corridors across the Eurasian, African, and North and South American continents, completely transforming the planet. This win-win endeavor would open up the resources of the Arctic, Siberia, the Russian Far East, and northern Canada to development as well.
As Helga Zepp-LaRouche put it in her dialogue with Larry Johnson yesterday, a longtime CIA analyst and co-founder of the Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity (VIPS), “The only way how we can, in my view, avoid that this will end sooner or later, be it over the Ukraine crisis or some escalation in the Middle East, or even a war in the Pacific, ending up in World War III, would be that we really have to draw the line and say that the Western countries of Europe, United States and others aligned with them, that they should stop this geopolitical effort to contain Russia, contain China, and start to reach out and cooperate! Because it would be so easy! I have had enough discussions with people in China, in Russia, in India, and other countries from the Global South, there would not be one minute’s hesitation, to welcome this! And I think that the only thing the BRICS countries should do better than they are doing, is to make that once again very clear, so that the effort by the mainstream media, and the warhawks to portray them as a threat, would be countered by them making a more positive message and invitation to the West.”
In addition to the potential of a successful summit between Presidents Trump and Putin, the potential for a meeting between Presidents Trump, Xi, and Putin at the September 3rd Beijing Parade is another historical moment for peace. Helga Zepp-LaRouche, who first made the appeal for such a meeting to take place, said to Larry Johnson in her webcast, “I think President Trump, under no circumstances, should miss that. Because he could really earn the Nobel Peace Prize, which he seems to want so badly, if he would do that. Because it could really be the beginning of a new era of mankind. I have issued a call, and if you, the listeners, and you, naturally, Larry, if you agree, please sign that call, because we want to make that heard all over the world as loudly as we can.”
Today’s Fireside Chat will feature reports from Carl Osgood, EIR military expert, and Bill Jones, on the upcoming Anchorage meeting, and other matters.
