Queensland Rattled! 5 6 Magnitude Earthquake Shakes Homes and Pools My First Hand Account

On the morning of Saturday, 16 August 2025, Queensland felt one of its biggest shakes in years — a magnitude 5.6 earthquake struck near Kilkivan, just northwest of the Sunshine Coast.

At 9:49 am, the quake hit at a shallow 2 km depth, shaking houses from Brisbane to Rockhampton, Toowoomba, the Gold Coast, and even into northern NSW.

In this video, I share my first-hand experience — the whole house shook, plaster cracked in spots, and my old hydrotherapy pool rippled like the ocean.
