Man fleeing immigration raid in California fatally struck by vehicle

A man died after being struck by a vehicle on a Southern California freeway while fleeing an immigration raid at a Monrovia Home Depot, authorities said.

Local officials confirmed the incident occurred during U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement activity, though DHS denied pursuing the man.

His identity has not been released.

Advocates say 10–13 workers were detained in what they described as an aggressive operation, part of a broader focus on Home Depot locations frequented by day laborers, NBC News has reported.

The death has sparked criticism from community leaders, who argue such raids endanger lives and instill fear.
