California authorities rescued a 46-year-old Long Beach man who was trapped for two days behind a waterfall in the remote Seven Teacups area after powerful water knocked him off his rappelling lines.

Search teams used drones and infrared technology to locate him, and a California Highway Patrol helicopter hoisted him to safety.

He was treated for minor injuries and dehydration before reuniting with his family, the Associated Press has reported.

The challenging cascades are known for their dangerous terrain and require advanced climbing experience.
