Filled with the Spirit: How Believers Live in God’s Fullness

In this Bible lesson, Brother Scott Mitchell teaches on the vital difference between being sealed with the Holy Spirit and being filled with the Spirit. While both are essential in the believer’s walk, Scripture makes clear that they are not the same.

Sealed with the Spirit – A judicial act of God at the moment of salvation. Once you trust in Christ, God seals you with His Spirit as a guarantee of eternal life and ownership in Him (Ephesians 1:12–14; 2 Corinthians 1:21). This seal is permanent and cannot be broken.

Filled with the Spirit – A conditional state dependent on our daily walk. Being filled means allowing God’s Spirit to abundantly supply, strengthen, and guide us as we yield to His Word and live in thanksgiving and joy (Ephesians 5:18–21; Colossians 3:16–17).

Scott explains how the believer’s role is active:
- Living in thanksgiving and joy
- Singing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs
- Allowing the Word of Christ to dwell richly within
- Removing barriers such as fear, bitterness, and worldly distractions

This lesson challenges us to examine our lives: What hinders us from being filled with the Spirit? Are we clinging to negativity or choosing to rejoice in Christ?

Though we are sealed once for all, being filled is a daily pursuit—one that requires prayer, Scripture, and an open heart to God’s Spirit.
