Intro
i. You're looking good today and it feels good to be with you.
II. Theme: "Commandment or Revelation?: The Word of Wisdom!"
i. We are going there.
ii. Question: From Russell M. Nelson:
1. "In our efforts to proclaim the virtue of obedience, we might unwisely teach with inappropriate emphasis. For example, many important facts and figures are sometimes cited to illustrate the great physical benefits that come from obedience to the Word of Wisdom. We know that cigarette smoking is the single most important preventable cause of heart disease, cancer, artery disease, and lung disease. But do we obey the Word of Wisdom because medical science affirms the physical benefits that follow?"
2. "To test that concept, what would be your response if, as a parent, you were told that your son should be obedient to the Word of Wisdom even if medical science had evidence (which it does not) to suggest that such obedience would be harmful to his health? What would you do? Would you follow the counsel of medical science, or would you listen to and follow the word of God? " (Russell M. Nelson, The Power within Us, p.53)

a. In the 1830s, Smith and his followers used the terms commandment and revelation to refer to these dictations that they viewed as divine communications. Usage patterns in early documents suggest that in the earliest years, Latter-day Saints may have seen subtle differences in the meaning of these terms: commandment may have denoted communications that required action or obedience, whereas revelation may have referred to communications on doctrinal topics. https://www.josephsmithpapers.org/articles/editorial-method
