Title: Revelation: The Son of Man and the Angels Text: Revelation 14:14-20 Vital Verse: “Then I looked, and behold, a white cloud, and sitting on the cloud was one like a son of man, having a golden crown on His head and a sharp sickle in His hand” (Revelation 14:14). Nugget to Nibble: Judgment advances as the reapers step forward to fulfill their mission. The Son of Man reaps, followed by angels who, each holding a sharp sickle, harvest the earth. An angel announces each stage. First, the earth is reaped because the harvest has “dried up” (Greek xeraino, from xeros)—its season in the field has passed, losing both vitality and nourishment (Revelation 14:16). Next, the clusters from the vine of the earth are gathered (Revelation 14:18) and thrown into the great winepress of the wrath of God (Revelation 14:19). This scene continues the imagery of judgment begun earlier in the chapter: “Drink the wine of the wrath of God…the cup of His anger” (Revelation 14:10) “The harvest of the earth is ripe” (Revelation 14:15) “The great winepress of the wrath of God” (Revelation 14:19) The Wheat & Tares Explained Then He left the crowds and went into the house.
