Apply our hearts to wisdom

Psalm 90 is perhaps the oldest psalm in the Bible. It was written by Moses and was composed about 500 years before David’s psalms and about 1,500 years before Jesus Christ walked this earth. The interesting thing about this psalm is that it is a prayer by Moses to the LORD God. It would have been written during the Exodus most likely in the second half of the 40 year trek. The Israelites could have entered into the Promised Land early on, but they rejected the LORD’s leading because they feared the reports of giants in the land. As a consequence, those Israelites 20 and above did not survive the Exodus, they died by sword, or pestilence, or old age before the Israelites arrived. Over two million Israelites would have died during the Exodus. And in Psalm 90, Moses speaks of death, sin and evil.
