Jack Keane on Alaska Summit: Putin Made That Request After Sanctions Threats and Trump’s Military Action Against Iran

GIGOT: “Fox News’ a senior strategic analyst Jack Keane chairman of the institute for the study for. General welcome good to see you. The president said there is great progress here at this meeting but note cease-fire. What is the progress that you see coming out of this if any?”

Keane: “Yes I think there really is some genuine new momentum here. It was certainly initiated by Putin by asking for the meeting and in person meeting. We’ve had six months of phone calls and constant delay, delay, delay and no action on Putin’s part so something change it’s pretty obvious a couple of things. He watched the president take decisive military action to end Iran’s nuclear program and negotiations with the Iranians went nowhere and the Israelis began that, their attack the day after the negotiated term ended in 60 days he increased military aid to Ukraine is threatening crushing sanctions here comes Putin sank less talk in person trucks as I like to include Zelenskyy, Putin says no maybe another date. So we had a meeting and the results of that are kind of mixed with the president said as much in his remarks we got some things, some things will go to the next meeting. I think you have to be disappointed that there is not a cease-fire. The cease-fires were to stop the killing. And just not everybody wants that but who? Putin. Why does he go to a cease-fire? It’s pretty obvious why. He believes as long as he is a killing Ukrainian civilians and killing Ukrainian soldiers and uprooting people’s lives rather dramatically, he is keeping the pressure on Ukraine. And in a way the pressure on the United States also. If he goes to a cease-fire he loses that leverage that’s what hewhyhe is so steadfast here. Anybody who would know anything about military operations knows cease-fire is coming. If were going to move troops run on the battlefield you cannot do that under fire. There has to be a cease-fire to be able for that to take place. So as disappointing as it is that it’s not here, it is coming.”
