i open old notebooks just to see where my hands shook.
some of the lines slant harder than others,
depending on the kind of day it was or what drug i was under...

used to strum out rhythms with my fingertips,
on the desk, on my leg, on the strings of my guitar,
just to keep something steady, and the hurt afar....

there’s comfort in repetition,
even when the rhythm breaks for a moment ...

every page is a pain i asked to die,
but it never does, and that's alright...

writing helps me slow the panic down,
long enough to let me breathe...

these songs don’t heal,
but they tell me where it hurts,
and that’s the part i find worth....

i thought talking about it might fix this,
but some things lose meaning when you overthink it...

still, it’s better than silence,
better than pretending i’m above it...

I write lines that make even me cry
and i keep them anyway, not because I like them
but because they're mine...

truth doesn’t wait until you’re ready,
it just shows up and expects a seat...
