Obituary

Lawrence ('Larry') Dale Cannon was born August 16, 1951 at Castle
Air Force Base, Atwater, California. He passed, due to asthma June 3, 2025 at home in Prescott, Arizona. Larry was 73. He was an earnest, committed Christian, ever concerned about others' salvation.

Larry was preceded in death by his mother and father, Ann and Dale Cannon and is survived by his wife of 36 years, Bryn, and children Jesse and Jamie. Also siblings Bruce (Longview, WA), Beverly Taggart (Oklahoma City OK), and Mark (Chandler, AZ).

Wife Bryn is a viola and violin teacher who performs with the Arizona Philharmonic. Daughter Jesse is completing her Ph.D. in Industrial Psychology, and son Jamie is in Technical Marketing with Solidigm.

After earning his Mechanical Engineering degree from Arizona State University Larry went to work for Garrett AiResearch in Phoenix, AZ. He found the environment stifling, so when offered an opportunity to be laid off, he grabbed it. He moved to Telluride, CO. for a few years to run a ski lift.

Most recently, with seven patents to his name, Larry was an inventive and creative Senior Design Engineer with Microsoft, but his passions were art and music. His home in Prescott is festooned with his paintings and drawings. He enjoyed Steely Dan, The Beatles and Led Zeppelin, whom he affectionately nicknamed "Led Zep-hog".

He liked the BLATT! of a saxophone, but not the glissando of a trombone.

He collected watches.

Though suffering from breathing issues, he was usually involved in projects at home, including rebuilding a bass guitar, and, just before his passing he designed and built a set of stereo loudspeakers.

Larry excelled at Wordle, and was the best (worst?) punster on the planet.
As a teenager, when trying to describe an ultra-limber performance artist he had seen, the word "contortionist" escaped him. No problem. In the blink of an eye he concocted "writherist" (WRITHE-er-ist), which was understood by all.

Observing the verbal jousting of a niece and nephew, he thought they were beginning to enjoy each other's company a bit too much. He loudly interrupted "Hey you two, remember - YOU'RE COUSINS!"
