Why Trump’s troop moves looked so different: LA vs D.C.?

Just 2 months ago in Los Angeles, armored vehicles and federal forces hit the streets. Local leaders blasted it as an overreach, even suing in court, saying the President had no authority. Many residents saw it as political theater that only escalated tension — not something the city actually needed.
But in the nation’s capital, the reaction feels very different. Legally, D.C. falls under federal control, so there’s no clash of authority like in California. And the results speak volumes: in less than ten days, over 300 dangerous offenders were taken off the streets. Just on Saturday night alone, federal and local partners made 68 arrests and seized dozens of dangerous items. Those suspects are now facing charges.
So why the opposite reactions?
