Immigrant Charged in Blatchford Sexual Assault and Kidnapping

A man is facing sexual assault and kidnapping charges related to an attack on a woman in Blatchford. Police say that last month, the woman was looking for an Uber when she got into the car of a man she didn’t know on Jasper Avenue. He allegedly drove her to a construction site in Blatchford, sexually assaulted her, and left her there before driving away.

Police released a composite sketch last Friday in hopes of identifying the attacker. They now say a 30-year-old man has been arrested. He has since been released on bail with conditions, including a 24-hour curfew and the surrender of his passport.
